Course Description
Course Description This full time PLC (Post Leaving Cert) course aims to familiarise students with different aspects of the horticultural industry, and provide students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be successful in pursuing their chosen career. The course will enhance and broaden educational parameters enabling students to obtain access to third level institutions, apprenticeships and gainful employment. Students will have first hand experience working outdoors and growing and developing plants and vegetables. Students attending this course will develop knowledge and skills in horticultural areas. Course work concentrates on scientific and economic principles underlying horticulture and the application of these principles to particular enterprises. The work practice training period may be in garden centres, nurseries, amenity parks, golf courses or fruit and vegetable production units.
